Aperture science, you do what you must because you can…

AS issued hot water bottle cosie anyone?

Or maybe you’re own turret?

But no one can say no to cake right?

And everyone needs a companion cube.

For those interested, generic hot water bottle cosie pattern with the Aperture Science logo worked into it via intersia. A little turret I created purely by just winging it. The legs are reinforced with wire ad green stuff. Cake was winged too, as was the Companion Cube, but I actually wrote the pattern for that one – you can find it in the free patterns section!

Anyhow!

Sorry for the huge hiatus (and all the photos are of old projects), between Felix’s first birthday, secret christmas knitting, starting a new job, travelling up north for a bit and back again, I’ve not had much time to go online.

That and I lost my camera somewhere along the way. So all the cool stuff I’ve been working on? No photos.

And knitting blog posts without photos are really rather dull and pointless.

This however, is one of those, but apart from the old knitting projects of mine as a bit of a compromise (at least they’re not posted here already), it has one juicy bit of info! I finally counted my wool – I received some as presents and acquired a few stashes, so was really dreading it, but after some serious stash busting (later post when I find my camera) I decided to take the risk and count.

There was only 747 balls of wool, not as bad as I feared!

But still, 747 balls of wool is a little on the large side. Ok. A lot on the large side seeing as it’s mostly providing insulation in my conservatory…

So for the next while I’m going to keep a running record on the coming and going of my wool stash – hopefully doing this publicly will guilt me out of buying ‘just one more ball/pack/colour lot…’

It should also encourage more posts and a better record of what I’ve been making – my Ravelry account is terribly behind!

Or he’s chilling on my sofa, reading the rules to Call Of Cthulhu, the RPG.

Cthulhu, settling down to read his grand debut

This is a cute, snuggly, knitted version of the cosmic entity, Cthuhlu, created by H. P. Lovecraft back in 1928.

I’ve made a few of these guys over the years, tweaking and changing the pattern as I go. Since reading the Call of Cthulhu I decided that Felix needed her on little elder god to nom on (shes teething) and after much scrabbling around realised I never did put all of the pattern down in one place.

So now I have, and posted it on here as a free pattern! I hope to see lots of little Cthulhus to come from you guys!

For those on Ravelry, this pattern is posted on there too if you’d like to add your projects to the pattern page.

Had another busy week (both real life and online) and managed to get a few more things back up and running for the site!

My sister Rabbie, aka themagpiesnest, whose knitted (and sewn, and baked) goodies can be found here, or her blog over here, asked me to host two of her patterns which are now back online for people to use and make!

So here they are, a B-Bomb pattern and a Kirby pattern! Whats better, they’re both free!

Firstly, Crumble complained that Salem and Sabrina were receiving too much attention and that she should have her photo posted.

The gorgeous Crumble cat.

Now that I’ve finished bowing to the cats every demand, on to my readers/watchers/followers commands!

Both the Axolotl pattern and the Companion Cube pattern are back online! They’ve had some revising done to them, mostly to make things more self explanatory and to try and iron out a few issues… These and all other free patterns I get round to digging out, dusting off and typing up will and can be found on the Free Patterns page.

Lastly, I’ve put a link on the menu bar (look at the top of the page, there’s one for the Free Patterns too) to my DA gallery. I’m hoping to eventually have a gallery on here of my knitted things, or something similar, but its pretty intensive work and I’m currently far too lazy/busy/tired. If anyone has any suggestions however…you can get in touch via the new Contact page! (Also in the menu bar)

More to come soon! Hopefully…
